Controlled distortion is introduced during manufacture, letting sharpness, contrast, roll-off, spherical aberration, field curvature, edge halation, and flare be shaped to taste. The design language draws on primes built between the 1930s and 1960s, but these are new optical designs, not rehoused vintage glass.
